Review by Joey K
Rick's debut single was originally recorded in November of 1986 and mixed New Year's Day 1987. S/A/W held the single until July 27th when it was launched in the UK. Following a one month climb, it topped the UK charts for the first of 5 weeks.
It topped the charts in 16 countries and went on to be the biggest selling single of 1987 in Britain. RCA Records did not want to release Astley in the United States but PWL eventually convinced them and the single spent 2 weeks on the summit of the US survey.
